Splats are ideal for capturing translucent or thin objects that photogrammetry meshes may not capture well. If your subject includes shiny, thin, or translucent materials—such as leaves, glass, or metal—a splat will deliver superior results. Splats are also great for capturing entire scenes, such as rooms, places, and spaces.
Processing Splats vs. Photogrammetry
The process for creating files for both photogrammetry and splat processing is the same, but the images are processed differently to generate the final 3D model. You can always process and reprocess your files in either mode to compare the results. For more information, check out: Creating Photogrammetry Captures.
