How to use First Person Mode

Free, Pro, Business, Enterprise
Available on iOS, and Android

First-person controls in Polycam allow you to navigate your 3D models and environments from a ground-level perspective on your mobile device. This view is useful for exploring spaces more immersively or presenting walkthroughs of environments like rooms, buildings, or outdoor areas.

Activating First-Person Mode

  • Accessing First-Person View: Open the 3D model you want to explore in Polycam and look for the first-person view option in the toolbar, usually represented by an icon resembling a human figure

  • Movement Controls: Use the circular trackpad to navigate the capture. Similar to the W, S, A, and D controls, moving the trackpad up moves you forward in the scan. Moving it down moves you backward, while moving it left or right changes your direction accordingly.

  • Adjusting Height: You can move up and down within the capture by using the bar on the right-hand side.

  • Exiting First-Person View: To exit first-person mode,  tap the rotation button on the right-hand side.

  • Additional Tips: If you find yourself stuck or unable to move freely, try restarting the first-person mode.
