Do I Need Wi-Fi/LTE to Process My Captures?

When using Polycam, whether or not you need Wi-Fi or LTE depends on the capture mode you're using. While some captures can be processed directly on your device, others require an internet connection for cloud processing.

For the best experience, we recommend using a reliable Wi-Fi connection when processing cloud-based captures. If you are in an area with poor connectivity, try capturing offline and processing your data when you have access to a stable connection.

Processing Without Wi-Fi or LTE

LiDAR, Space, and Floorplan Mode Scans: These scans are processed locally on your device. No internet connection is required to process or view them, so you can capture and work with them entirely offline.

Processing That Requires Wi-Fi or LTE

Object Mode, 360 Captures, and Splats: These capture modes require cloud-based processing. After capturing, the data is uploaded to Polycam's servers, which need an internet connection (Wi-Fi or LTE) to complete the process.

Viewing and Syncing: Once your captures are processed, these captures will be available across all platforms (mobile & desktop)

Offline Use: You can still capture in Photo Mode and Splats while offline, but a stable internet connection is required later to upload and process these captures.
