Which Devices Are Supported by Polycam
Each capture mode needs different hardware. This article lists the minimum device for every mode, on iPhone, iPad, and Android.
What Each Mode Needs
Find your mode in the first column, then read across for the minimum device on each platform.
| Capture mode | iPhone | iPad | Android |
|---|---|---|---|
| Space (LiDAR) | 12 Pro or newer | iPad Pro 2020 or newer | Not supported |
| Space (non-LiDAR) | 13 or newer | iPad mini 6th gen, iPad 10th gen | Not supported |
| Object Mode | 11 or newer | iPad Pro 2018, iPad 8th gen | Yes |
| AI Capture | 11 or newer | iPad Pro 2018, iPad 8th gen | Not supported |
| 360 Mode | 12 or newer | Not supported | Not supported |
Anything newer than the device listed also works. All iOS modes need iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later. Space Mode without LiDAR also needs at least 4 GB of RAM. On Android, only Object Mode is supported, and Gaussian Splat capture is not available.
2D Floorplans from Space Mode
Any iOS device that can run Space Mode can generate a 2D floorplan from the capture. LiDAR is not required, so the non-LiDAR devices above produce floorplans as well.
Does LiDAR Matter?
LiDAR affects Space Mode only. Both LiDAR and non-LiDAR devices can produce 3D models and 2D floorplans. On iPhone, only Pro models have LiDAR. Look for a small circular black sensor beside the rear camera module, separate from the lenses.
Android Requirements
Object Mode is the only capture mode available on Android, and Gaussian Splat capture is not supported. Your device needs all of the following.
Minimum requirements
- At least 3.5 GB of RAM
- 64-bit architecture
- A high-resolution camera with good colour accuracy
- Not an Imagination Tech PowerVR GE8320 GPU
- Not a 702 device
Devices meeting these requirements include the Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, and the Google Pixel 6 and newer.
