Before You Publish

Before publishing a capture to Explore, keep the following in mind:

  • You must be the original owner of the capture. You cannot publish content that was saved from another account. If you are not the original owner, the Publish button will not be available.
  • Once published, your capture will be visible to the entire Polycam community on the Explore page immediately.
  • Publishing a capture does not give other users access to your original file. Your capture will always remain safely stored in your account.

How to Publish a Capture to Explore

1Open Your Capture

Navigate to the capture you want to publish and open it.

2Click the Publish Button

Tap or click the Publish button in the top right corner of the capture viewer.

3Set Your Preferences

Before publishing, you'll be able to configure the following options:

  • Show Location: Toggle this on to display the location where the capture was taken on your Explore listing. Toggle it off if you'd prefer to keep the location private. Note that when enabled, your precise GPS coordinates will be shown, so consider this carefully before enabling it.
  • Savable: Toggle this on to allow other Polycam community members to save and download a copy of your capture. If toggled off, your capture will be viewable but not downloadable. See the section below for more details on what Savable means for your content.

4Publish to Explore

Once your preferences are set, tap or click Publish to Explore to make your capture public. Your capture will appear on the Explore page immediately after publishing.

Understanding the Savable Option

Enabling Savable allows other members of the Polycam community to save and download a copy of your capture. Here is what you need to know:

  • Other users will never have access to your original file. It will always remain in your account.
  • When a user saves your capture, they receive their own independent copy, which they can edit and use as they wish.
  • Any changes they make to their copy will not affect your original capture in any way.
Tip: If you want your capture to be visible on Explore but prefer to keep it from being downloaded or used by others, simply leave the Savable toggle off before publishing.

How to Unpublish a Capture

If you want to remove your capture from Explore, you can unpublish it at any time. The process follows the same flow as publishing. Navigate to the capture, open it, and tap or click the Publish button in the top right corner. From there, you'll see the option to unpublish the capture and remove it from Explore.

Note: Unpublishing a capture removes it from the Explore page immediately. However, any copies that other users have already saved to their accounts will remain in their libraries.
