How to Generate a Spatial Report

The Spatial Report provides comprehensive measurements and dimensions for each room in your Space or 3D floorplan scan.

Capture Requirements

  • Available for: Space mode and 3D floorplan scans only
  • Platform requirement: Currently only available on Polycam for Web
  • Processing requirement: Report is generated automatically after scan processing is complete

How to Access a Spatial Report

1Navigate to Your Capture

  • Open your capture library
  • Select a Space mode or 3D floorplan capture
  • Ensure the scan has finished processing
Note: The Spatial Report is only available for Space and 3D floorplan captures. Other capture types will not display the report option.

2Open the Report Viewer

  • Within the capture editor, locate the left-hand sidebar
  • Click the Report button
  • The Spatial Report will open in the viewer

What's Included in the Spatial Report

The Spatial Report provides a comprehensive overview of your space's dimensions and features, making it easy to analyze rooms efficiently.

Floorplan Overview

The overall floorplan section includes property-wide measurements and location data:

  • Total exterior floor area - The complete floor area including all spaces
  • Total livable floor area - Habitable space measurements
  • Total wall area - Combined surface area of all walls
  • Total window area - Aggregate window measurements
  • Total volume - Three-dimensional space calculation
  • Latitude - Geographic coordinate
  • Longitude - Geographic coordinate
  • Altitude - Elevation measurement

Individual Room Reports

Each scanned room receives its own detailed report with room-specific measurements:

  • Floor area - Total square footage of the room
  • Perimeter - Distance around the room's boundaries
  • Ceiling height - Vertical measurement from floor to ceiling
  • Room volume - Three-dimensional capacity
  • Wall area (including openings) - Total wall surface with doors and windows
  • Wall area (excluding openings) - Paintable wall surface only
  • Room dimensions - Length and width measurements
  • Furniture and fixtures - Identified objects within the space
Pro Tip: The distinction between wall area with and without openings is particularly useful for calculating paint requirements or estimating materials for renovation projects.

Modifying the Spatial Report

You can enhance your Spatial Report by adding additional information through the advanced floor plan options. These modifications allow you to:

  • Add custom annotations and labels
  • Include additional measurement details
  • Incorporate property-specific information
  • Customize the report layout and presentation

Downloading Your Report

1Generate the PDF

  • Open your Spatial Report in the viewer
  • Review the report to ensure all information is accurate
  • Click the Download button
  • The system will generate a PDF file

2Save and Share

  • Save the PDF to your desired location
  • Share with clients, contractors, or team members as needed
  • The PDF maintains all measurements and formatting from the web viewer

Troubleshooting

Report Button Not Visible

If you cannot see the Report button in your capture editor:

  1. Verify your capture is a Space mode or 3D floorplan scan
  2. Confirm you have a Business or Enterprise subscription
  3. Ensure you're accessing the capture on Polycam for Web (not mobile)
  4. Check that the scan has fully completed processing

Missing or Incomplete Data

If your report shows incomplete information:

  1. Ensure the original scan captured all areas thoroughly
  2. Check that room boundaries were clearly defined during capture
  3. Verify that doors, windows, and openings were properly captured
  4. Consider reprocessing the scan if data appears corrupted

Download Issues

If you're experiencing problems downloading the PDF:

  • Check your browser's pop-up blocker settings
  • Ensure you have sufficient storage space on your device
  • Try using a different browser if the issue persists
  • Clear your browser cache and attempt the download again
