Understanding Perspective vs Orthographic Projections
These two projection modes serve different purposes and provide distinct advantages depending on your workflow.
Perspective View
Natural Depth Perception: Objects appear smaller as they get further away, mimicking how the human eye perceives the world.
Immersive Experience: Provides a realistic, three-dimensional sense of space.
Orthographic View
No Perspective Distortion: Objects maintain their true size regardless of distance from the camera.
Precise Measurements: Recommended use is to measure and crop the space with this enabled. comparisons and dimensional analysis.
How to Switch Between Projection Modes
Accessing and toggling between Perspective and Orthographic projections is straightforward across all Polycam platforms.
1Open Your Capture
Select any capture from your library.
2Locate the Projection Toggle
Find the Projection Mode toggle button located in the top right corner of the capture editor.
3Switch Projections
Toggle between Perspective and Orthographic modes with a single tap or click. By default, perspective mode is enabled.
