Understanding Apple Private Relay Emails: What They Are and Why You Received One

When you sign up for Polycam using your Apple ID, you may notice your account is associated with an unfamiliar email address ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com. This is an Apple Private Relay Email—a privacy feature of Apple's Hide My Email service.

How Apple Private Relay Emails Work

An Apple Relay email is a private, randomly generated email address that Apple uses to forward messages to your actual email account. This allows you to use Polycam and other services without exposing your personal email address.

Example:
abcd1234@privaterelay.appleid.com → forwards to → youremail@example.com

Why You Have a Private Relay Email

If you chose Sign in with Apple during registration and selected the Hide My Email option, Apple automatically created this private relay address for your Polycam account. This extra layer of privacy helps protect your personal information while still ensuring you receive all important communications.

All emails sent to your relay address (including password resets, verification codes, and updates) will be automatically forwarded to your real email inbox. Your Polycam experience remains unchanged.
